E. Polipodio is an Italian family-owned company founded in 1953. It has specialised in cathodic protection since 1957, and its products protect boats, ships, offshore structures, harbours and industrial plants.
Every anode in the boating catalogue is made at the company’s own plant in Genoa. The range covers anodes for propellers, shafts, rudders, trim tabs, thrusters, waterjets, engines and cooling systems. Alongside traditional casting, Polipodio uses die casting for parts that need tight tolerances, such as engine anodes.
Marine Import Oy is the official E. Polipodio distributor in Finland. We keep the most common products in stock in Luvia, and stock items ship in 1–3 working days. We also deliver to business customers in the Baltics, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Poland.
Our stock covers shaft anodes, engine and drive anodes, and weld-on block anodes. Individual models and availability are listed in our Captains Shop online store (in Finnish).
Two-piece anode clamped around the propeller shaft. The wide model carries more anode material.
Narrow shaft anode for tight spots, for example close to the shaft bracket or propeller.
Anodes for sterndrives, shaft ends and feathering propellers. Find the right one by the original part number.
Replacement anodes for outboards, engines and rudders. The part number tells you which anode fits.
Weld-on magnesium hull anodes. According to the manufacturer, magnesium is mostly used in fresh and brackish water.
Zinc blocks for hull and transom protection. The manufacturer names zinc as a common choice in seawater.
Choose the anode material to suit the water. According to E. Polipodio, zinc or aluminium is commonly used in seawater, and magnesium is mostly used in fresh and brackish water. In Finland boats operate both in the brackish Baltic Sea and in freshwater lakes, so the choice matters.
The values below are the manufacturer’s data for its standard alloys. Magnesium has the most negative potential, and aluminium delivers the most current per kilogram.
| Material | Manufacturer alloy | Potential (Ag/AgCl) | Capacity | Manufacturer’s guidance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zinc | SLz023, SLz002 | −1050 mV | 780 Ah/kg | Seawater |
| Aluminium | SLa006 | −1150 mV | 2500 Ah/kg | Seawater |
| Magnesium | SLm007 | −1570 mV | 1130 Ah/kg | Fresh and brackish water |
